A torque-rich four that behaves more like a small V8 down low, serving up to 380 lb-ft and a flat, muscular pull thanks to clever turbo and valvetrain engineering. In CT4-V form it makes 325 hp with surprisingly little lag.

A clean-sheet GM design first launched in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, then adapted for Cadillac; it is built at GM's Spring Hill, Tennessee plant.

• It uses a 'dual volute' turbocharger with two stacked spiral chambers feeding both sides of the turbine for quicker spool, a feature GM calls a segment first.
• The turbine housing is integrated directly into the cylinder head's exhaust manifold to capture heat for faster warm-up and sharper response.
• It pairs that with a three-step sliding camshaft that varies valve lift, another feature Cadillac claims as a class first.
