Toyota's most powerful four-cylinder ever, the twin-scroll T24A-FTS pairs front and rear electric motors to deliver brisk, all-wheel-drive thrust that punches well above a four-pot's weight.

The newest member of Toyota's Dynamic Force family, built around the T24A-FTS 2.4-liter turbo and marketed as the Hybrid MAX powertrain that debuted in the 16th-generation Crown.

Toyota deliberately mated it to a conventional Direct Shift-6AT automatic rather than a CVT because engineers judged a CVT couldn't handle its torque.
Unlike most Toyota hybrids, drive is split across two axles by separate front and rear electric motors rather than a center driveshaft.
A redesigned cylinder head increases in-cylinder tumble flow to boost both efficiency and power.
