2.0L Turbo I4 Mild-Hybrid

The M254 pairs a 2.0-liter turbo-four with a 48-volt mild-hybrid starter-generator that fills low-rpm torque gaps, smooths stop-start, and adds a brief electric boost for seamless, quiet progress.

Mercedes' modular FAME (Family of Modular Engines) design, the M254 integrates the turbo, electric motor, and even the catalyst into one compact 'NanoSlide'-coated unit.

Its cylinder walls are coated with Mercedes' twin-wire NanoSlide process — a technology born in Formula 1.
The integrated starter-generator can briefly add around 20 hp and erase turbo lag.
