Dual-Motor AWD Electric

Front and rear eAxle motors deliver brisk, sure-footed acceleration with a roughly 5.0-second 0-60 mph time, while continuously variable torque distribution keeps the body composed and planted under power.

Built on the e-TNGA platform shared with the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, the RZ 450e debuted Lexus's DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system; its battery is developed by Prime Planet Energy & Solutions, a Toyota-Panasonic venture.

DIRECT4 can shift torque continuously between axles from fully front to fully rear to manage traction and even body pitch and dive.
The system uses two independent eAxle units, a 150-kW front and an 80-kW rear, with no driveshaft connecting them.
Lexus has developed a version of the RZ with a manual-style shifter and simulated gear feel to add driver engagement to the EV experience.
