Built on Jaguar Land Rover's in-house Ingenium modular engine family, designed from the outset to accommodate electrification; the Discovery Sport's P300e variant pairs the Ingenium petrol engine with a Samsung-sourced battery pack.

The electric motor drives the rear axle independently, so the car can run as a rear-wheel-drive EV in electric mode despite being a four-wheel-drive SUV.
