A high-output turbo four delivering strong, flat torque that gives compact Jeeps muscular real-world acceleration well beyond what its displacement suggests.

Part of the FCA/Stellantis Global Medium Engine (GME) family; the American 'Hurricane4' branch was developed by FCA US alongside an Alfa Romeo-developed sibling, and first appeared in the 2018 Wrangler.

The GME family was born in two parallel branches: one engineered by Alfa Romeo for the Giulia and Stelvio, the other (Hurricane4) by FCA US, both originally built in Termoli, Italy.
Stellantis later invested about $400 million to repurpose an idled Kokomo, Indiana transmission plant, bringing US Hurricane production online in 2022.
It shares its 'Hurricane' name with Stellantis's twin-turbo 3.0L inline-six, though the two are unrelated designs.
