The engine

4.0L V8 Twin-Turbo

Twin-Turbo V8

A heavily reworked twin-turbo V8 that gives the Urus Performante its savage, deep-chested shove and a deliberately theatrical exhaust bark unusual for an SUV.

Based on Volkswagen Group's EA825 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, extensively reworked by Lamborghini; the Urus rides on the MLB Evo platform it shares with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg.

The EA825 is a cross-plane-crank design that superseded the earlier EA824 across the VW Group.
For the Urus, Lamborghini fitted new cylinder heads and uprated the engine to roughly 100 PS and 80 N·m beyond the related Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
The same core engine appears across the group in Audi RS models, Porsche, and Bentley applications.
It made the Urus Lamborghini's first V8-powered series-production model, a sharp break from the brand's V10 and V12 tradition.
