A single-turbo V6 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, tuned for refined, brawny mid-range pull and near-instant throttle response rather than high-rpm theatrics, with quattro all-wheel drive putting it cleanly to the road.

Part of the EA839 family co-developed by Audi and Porsche from 2016, this 90-degree V6 shares its 'hot-vee' layout with the 4.0 TFSI V8, and the Q8 itself is assembled at Volkswagen's Bratislava plant in Slovakia.

• The turbocharger sits inside the vee of the cylinder banks, shortening the exhaust path to cut lag and warm up emissions hardware faster.
• The same EA839 architecture spawns a 2.9-liter twin-turbo variant used in hotter Audi S and RS models.
• Its 48V mild-hybrid system enables engine-off coasting and can trim fuel use by up to 0.7 L/100 km.
