4.0L Twin-Turbo V8

A hot-vee twin-turbo V8 with a deep, hard-edged bark, it punches with savage mid-range muscle — Aston engineers often extract more from it than Mercedes does in its own cars.

This is Mercedes-AMG's M177 4.0-litre V8, supplied to Aston Martin under a partnership dating to 2013 and fitted to the DB11, Vantage, DBX and DB12.

Each unit is hand-assembled at AMG's Affalterbach factory under the 'one man, one engine' principle, with the builder's signature plaque on the engine.
In the DB12 Aston tunes it to 671 hp and 590 lb-ft — and a further-developed version of this same V8 powers the hybrid Valhalla hypercar.
