With no turbos to muffle it, the high-revving 5.2 V10 wails toward an 8,700 rpm redline with razor throttle response and a spine-tingling, other-worldly shriek that is central to the Huracan's character.

A 90-degree V10 first developed for the Gallardo after Audi acquired Lamborghini under the VW Group; the block is cast at Audi's Gyor plant in Hungary, with final assembly at Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.

• It traces back to 1980s/90s Lamborghini concept cars (the P140 and Cala) before being revived and enlarged in the early 2000s.
• It is mechanically near-identical to the Audi 5.2 FSI V10 in the R8, sharing 90mm cylinder spacing and Fuel Stratified Injection.
• Its unusual 1-6-5-10-2-7-3-8-4-9 firing order helps give the engine its distinctive voice.
