Engineered by Hyundai as the Smartstream G3.5 (Lambda III) family, introduced in 2020 to replace the older Lambda II 3.0/3.3 V6s, and shared across upmarket Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models.

It uses a dual-injection system combining direct injection with port injection, switching strategies by load to boost efficiency and help prevent intake carbon buildup.
In Genesis tune it produces around 375 hp and 391 lb-ft, propelling the G80 to 60 mph in roughly five seconds.
An integrated thermal management system helps the engine reach efficient operating temperatures faster across varied driving conditions.
