A force-fed brawler whose 2.4-liter IHI supercharger whines like a banshee over a deep HEMI rumble, delivering brutal, instant-on shove from idle. In Redeye trim it pushes roughly 797 hp, the most unhinged version of Dodge's last great pushrod V8.

Built by Dodge/Stellantis on the Gen III HEMI architecture, the supercharged 6.2 debuted in the 2015 Challenger/Charger SRT Hellcat and was assembled at Stellantis' Saltillo, Mexico engine plant. The Redeye borrowed hardware from the one-year-only 2018 Demon.

• The block is a special 'Big Gas Engine' (BGE) casting with thicker walls and higher nickel content than a standard HEMI, and Redeye blocks are painted red to distinguish them from the orange Hellcat units.
• The supercharger spins to roughly 14,600 rpm and the engine uses forged internals with piston oil squirters to survive sustained boost.
• Despite the 'HEMI' name, the combustion chambers are not true hemispheres but a more modern shape Chrysler still markets under the historic Hemi badge.
