The engine

F140 (HY-KERS)

Naturally Aspirated V12 + Electric Hybrid

A screaming, naturally aspirated V12 that revs to 9,000 rpm, with an electric motor filling in instant torque down low so power never sags before the 12 cylinders come alive.

Built in Maranello, the F140 V12 traces its lineage to the Enzo, while the HY-KERS hybrid system was derived directly from Ferrari's Formula 1 kinetic energy recovery technology.

The HY-KERS system was tuned purely for performance rather than fuel economy, unusual for a hybrid of its era.
It made LaFerrari the most powerful road car in Ferrari's history at its 2013 launch and the marque's first hybrid hypercar.
LaFerrari production was capped at 499 units, with one extra car later built and auctioned for charity.
