Single-Motor Electric (FWD)
One front-mounted motor doing a job Peugeot has not asked an electric drive unit to do before: not efficiency first, but traction, response and the ability to take repeated abuse without backing off. The character is immediate rather than explosive, with the differential rather than the motor doing the interesting work out of a corner.
The GTi badge returns to a 208 for the first time since the combustion car was dropped, and it lands on the e-CMP small-car architecture Stellantis uses across Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, DS and Abarth. The engineering was signed off by Peugeot Sport, the competition arm that also runs the brand's endurance racing programme, and the car was shown to the public at Le Mans.
