2.0L Turbo I4 (Variable Compression)

A turbo four that continuously alters its own compression ratio on the fly, blending V6-rivaling muscle with four-cylinder efficiency in the Altima SR.

Designated KR20DDET, Nissan's variable-compression turbo debuted in the INFINITI QX50 and Altima after more than 20 years of development, replacing the old 3.5-liter V6.

A world-first multi-link connecting-rod system, driven by an electric motor through a harmonic-drive reduction gear, continuously varies piston stroke and compression from about 8:1 to 14:1.
It was engineered to deliver performance comparable to Nissan's old 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engines while returning four-cylinder fuel economy.
