The engine

Nettuno

Twin-Turbo V6

The Nettuno is a sharp, free-revving 90-degree twin-turbo V6 that spins to 8,000 rpm with a hard-edged, race-bred snarl, the first all-Maserati engine in over two decades.

Designed and built entirely by Maserati at its Modena plant from 2020, debuting in the MC20 supercar; the GranTurismo and GranCabrio run a retuned version optimized for grand-touring smoothness.

It borrows Formula 1 pre-chamber combustion technology, with a small pre-chamber spark plug igniting the main charge through tiny holes for cleaner, faster burn.
Each cylinder has twin spark plugs: one in the pre-chamber and a conventional one in the main chamber for low-load operation.
The name Nettuno (Neptune) references the trident-wielding Roman god, echoing Maserati's trident logo inspired by the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
