A small-displacement turbo four engineered to feel almost naturally aspirated, with a small turbine that nearly eliminates lag and flat torque from just 1,600 rpm for relaxed, responsive everyday power.

Part of Honda's Earth Dreams engine line, the L15-series turbo was developed to replace larger-displacement engines through downsizing and forced induction.

• This Accord application (L15BE) marked the first time Honda fitted its VTEC variable valve-lift system to the 1.5-litre turbo, used on the exhaust cam.
• A deliberately small-diameter turbine wheel was chosen specifically to minimize turbo lag rather than chase peak boost.
• It pairs VTEC with VTC variable cam timing on both cams to improve exhaust scavenging across the rev range.
