The engine

Power Stroke (High-Output)

Twin-Turbo-capable 6.7L Diesel V8

A monster-torque diesel that delivers its tremendous twist low in the rev range, pulling enormous loads with relentless, freight-train shove rather than drama.

The 6.7L was the first Power Stroke designed, developed and built in-house by Ford, ending decades of reliance on International-Navistar; it was engineered with input from Austrian powertrain specialist AVL and debuted for the 2011 Super Duty.

The High-Output version announced in late 2022 produces a class-leading 500 hp and a colossal 1,200 lb-ft of torque.
Before the 6.7L, Ford had sourced its pickup diesels from International-Navistar since 1983; this engine marked Ford's diesel independence.
Its design broke with convention by placing the turbocharger in the engine's valley between the cylinder banks rather than outside it.
