2.4L Turbo Diesel I4

A torquey common-rail diesel built for sustained load, hauling and off-road grunt rather than refinement, with a broad low-rev pull that suits towing and rough terrain. It is a workhorse engine with a reputation for resilience under heat and strain.

The 4N15 is part of Mitsubishi's commercial-diesel lineage, powering the Triton/L200 pickup and the Pajero Sport SUV, with the brand's MIVEC variable valve timing applied even to the diesel.

Unusually for a modern downsized diesel it retains a robust cast-iron block and reinforced internals, chosen for durability under continuous heavy load.
It was succeeded in the sixth-generation Triton by an all-new 4N16 unit offered in multiple power tunes from a single engine.
