Two motors deliver ferocious, torque-vectored thrust, hauling the 2.5-tonne Eletre and Emeya to supercar acceleration while Lotus's Hethel chassis team works to keep them feeling agile.

Engineered under Geely's ownership of Lotus, the cars use the brand's 800V Electric Premium Architecture, with dynamics led by the Hethel team in England collaborating with centres in Sweden, Germany and China.

• The 800V architecture supports very fast charging, with Lotus quoting roughly 10-to-80 percent in about 14 minutes on a suitably powerful DC charger.
• The performance R variants pair the dual-motor setup with a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, unusual for an EV, to balance launch and top-end.
• Despite being electric SUVs and GTs, they wear the Lotus badge that built its name on featherweight sports cars, a deliberate reinvention of the marque.
