The engine

DMO

1.5L Turbo I4 PHEV + Dual-Motor Electric AWD

The Shark's DMO super-hybrid mounts its turbo four longitudinally and lets two electric motors do most of the work, giving the pickup quiet electric-first running and a startling combined 430-plus hp that fires it to 100 km/h in around 5.7 seconds.

BYD's first pickup, it rides on a body-on-frame chassis with the brand's Dual Mode Off-Road (DMO) plug-in hybrid drivetrain, a system also underpinning the Denza B5.

It has no mechanical link between the axles; one electric motor per axle creates the four-wheel drive entirely through electricity.
The turbo petrol engine works largely as a generator, so the truck behaves like an EV with a built-in range extender.
Its LFP Blade battery is integrated into the chassis with cell-to-chassis technology and gives roughly 85 km of pure-electric range.
