Twin-Turbo V6

A muscular, hard-edged V6 that surges with an almost flat torque plateau from low revs, giving the RS5 and S6 punchy, instant throttle response over a guttural mid-range snarl.

Co-developed by Audi and Porsche and assembled in Germany, it shares its 'hot-V' architecture with the 4.0 TFSI V8 and is positioned by Audi Sport as the spiritual heir to the twin-turbo 2.7 V6 of the 1999 RS4.

• Both turbochargers sit inside the 90-degree vee of the cylinder banks, with the exhaust ports facing inward, shortening gas paths and sharpening throttle response.
• The same EA839 family also powers Porsche models like the Panamera, making it a genuinely shared Audi-Porsche engine.
