A turbocharged V6 paired with an electric motor for a refined, quattro-planted surge of torque, capable of silent electric cruising or a strong combined punch when both power sources team up.

The combustion half belongs to Audi's EA839 V6 family, in production since 2016 as a replacement for the older EA837 engines, here integrated into the A8's plug-in hybrid driveline.

• The EA839 runs a Miller-cycle combustion strategy with Audi Valvelift and a twin-scroll turbo nestled inside the V of the block.
• A rear-mounted lithium-ion battery stores about 14.4 kWh usable for meaningful all-electric driving before the V6 wakes up.
• Combined system output reaches 462 PS and 700 Nm, enough to launch the long-wheelbase limousine to 100 km/h in under five seconds.
